Biography |
Rudolph Trenton (Weil) was born in Rome, Italy, on August 27, 1913. His father Stefan Weil was Technical Director (Brew Master) of the Birra Peroni Company. Rudolph spent World War I in Switzerland, where he fell in love with the mountains. After the war he lived in Fuerth, Germany. Rudy attended the University of Munich for undergraduate work and then the University of Rome where he received a PhD in Law (1936). He went on to attend the University of Turin, Italy where he received a Doctorate of Political Science (Economics, 1938). While in Italy he served in the Italian Army as a Lieutenant in the Reserve.
July, 1939 Rudolph immigrated to the United States and worked for the American Export Lines. When World War II began he was drafted into the US army and was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant in 1945. Rudolph received his US citizenship at the end of WWII. In May, 1947 he married Marybeth Langston of Little Rock, AR and then attended Columbia University in New York for post-Doctoral work. He was a Professor of Economics at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla. from 1948 until he retired in 1979. He and his wife then moved to Parker, Colo. to be close to their children and grandchildren.
Rudolph was a successful lecturer and author of numerous articles including his text book "Basic Economics" which was in its fourth edition at his retirement.
He died on September 12, 2011, in Parker, Colorado.
